Start by measuring
Dry-feeling air is a reason to check indoor humidity, rather than immediately turn a humidifier to its highest setting. Consider the rooms affected, ventilation habits and whether moisture is already collecting on windows. A humidifier adds moisture; it does not fix water leaks, damp basements or the causes of mould.
Match the humidifier to the installation
Comfort Nest offers AprilAire 500 and GeneralAire 1042 options. Before choosing, confirm the exact control package, available mounting space and compatibility with the heating system. Discuss water supply, drainage, duct connections and service access. A model’s published output is not a guarantee that it will maintain the same humidity in every house.
Budget for the complete setup
The Shop page lists equipment prices and the optional installation charge. Ask what that installation includes and whether your home needs additional work. Replacement water panels and periodic maintenance are part of ownership. Once installed, follow the control and equipment instructions, and ask how the setting should change with outdoor conditions. If windows develop persistent condensation, request advice rather than continuing to add moisture.
