Check the dimensions and fit

Record the size printed on your current filter and the equipment model. The nominal size on the package may differ from the exact measured dimensions. A replacement should fit the intended cabinet without gaps or being forced into place. Ask for help if the existing filter is bent or looks incorrectly sized.

Higher filtration needs an airflow check

A higher-efficiency filter is not automatically suitable for every system. The cabinet, filter area and blower’s available airflow all matter. EPA guidance recommends choosing filtration that the system can accommodate. Do not stack filters or add restrictive material to registers as a shortcut to better air cleaning.

Plan regular replacement

Use the equipment and filter instructions for inspection and replacement intervals. Conditions such as pets, renovation dust and heavy system use can change how quickly a filter becomes loaded. If airflow is weak or a filter soils unusually quickly, ask for an assessment rather than just switching grades. Comfort Nest can help identify a suitable replacement using your filter size and equipment details.
