How it heats water
A heat pump water heater uses electricity to move heat from the surrounding air into stored water. Many models also have electric-resistance elements for additional heating. Because the appliance uses room air, where it is installed is part of the equipment decision.
Assess the space first
Ask about the manufacturer’s room-volume and temperature requirements, air movement, sound, drainage and service access. A small enclosed closet may need a different arrangement from an open utility room. The electrical requirements also need assessment. Do not assume an existing circuit is suitable simply because another water heater was installed there.
Match the household demand
Discuss peak hot-water use, recovery expectations and the selected operating mode. The available room heat, electricity price and use of backup elements influence performance and cost. An installer should explain those trade-offs for your home before you order. Bring a photo of the proposed location and information about your current tank to a Comfort Nest appointment.
